Approach

How it works.

It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. To do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply…

What Will We Do?

Attunement means bringing oneself into harmony. “I am attuned to myself, so I can be attuned to what you have to say.”

A trained therapist develops this capacity through training and self-awareness, creating space for empathy, deep listening, reflection, and recognising you as a unique individual with your own experiences.

Therapy may be brief, for example up to six sessions, or longer-term if you wish to explore deeper patterns. I also work with clients in a modality where we block three to six months together, working consistently over that period to help achieve the goals you wish to focus on.

My work is integrative, person-centred, and Gestalt focused. I draw on influences from Zen, Social Psychology, and Body Physiology to offer a holistic experience. Gestalt focuses on the “here and now” of experience, noticing shifts in awareness, bringing attention to the body, and allowing feelings to be expressed. Sessions may include guided meditation, imagery, or dialogue work when helpful. Above all, therapy is shaped around you, the person in the room, rather than a fixed protocol.

To illustrate, we can work with your automatic thoughts, somatic awareness in your body, as well as your dreams, if you prefer – the commitment is to work relationally and phenomenologically.

If you are new to therapy, you are welcome to book a short, non-obligation or binding, introductory call before committing to working together. We can use that time to discuss what is bringing you to therapy, for you to bring questions and concerns, and your goals for the future.

We may also discuss which practice location or modality is the right fit for you. Working online may suit you better, and I offer consistent online slots through the weekdays, including evening sessions basis availability.

Section Two

How Will We Do It?

We need to have some rules in how we conduct sessions, and these in turn, become the roles we each need to play to make it a nourishing and successful experience for us both.

Sessions usually run weekly at a consistent time, which is an important part of building a steady therapeutic relationship. We may graduate and choose to work fortnightly, after the initial period of starting our work together which needs to be weekly.

As a fellow human, I believe that ‘life happens’ and sometimes we are in situations outside our schedule’s control – be it illness, family caretaking, work pressures, or indeed the weather and commutes. Once we contract working together, I welcome your arrival to my practice deeply and integrally. I extend flexibility and mutual respect to circumstances outside of your control, or the times that you – or me – need to make changes to our contacted working schedule.

Through an integrative working modality, I adapt the approach to what you bring rather than fitting you to a method. I bring training from a variety of approaches and continue to equip myself with new learning.

Sessions are pre-booked and 50-minutes long. It is also possible to book 90-minute sessions, basis our working history. Cancellation charges apply within 48 hours of the appointment. I do try to accommodate missed sessions with prior notice.

Charges reflect the training and experience I bring. I offer special packages for students, institutions, and charities. Enquire about block packages and corporate concessions.

We choose a working modality basis your needs, and my assessment and availability, arriving at choice in the following:

Location – In-Clinic. Online.
Timing – Weekly. Fortnightly. Daytime. Evening.

Section Three

Where Can You Go With It?

Therapy can be a constant deep exploration of the self that you embark upon, or a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly check-in. It can also be a brief, focused, intense period of working together.

One of my personal aims for my therapy room is for you to leave feeling differently than you did coming in, and that when you feel ready for it, coming in again should be a choice, and not a need or compulsion. In effect, I am looking to connect you to a sense of agency, personal autonomy, and independence that comes from our building what I like to call your ‘Personal Toolbox’ together.

What is in the Personal Toolbox? A deeper understanding of yourself, your triggers, and the freedom to make more conscious choices. Choice is the change I hope to support. It allows movement away from patterns such as co-dependency, unhealthy relationships, automatic thinking, and self-critical habits.

During the process, therapy works best with consistent sessions, a willingness to reflect honestly, and the courage to explore areas that may feel difficult. Part of the work involves gradually moving from environmental support to self-support. It can sometimes help to let trusted people know you are beginning therapy, and for those with demanding lives, seeking support from family, friends, or work may make it easier to commit to the process.

Above all, therapy invites you to approach yourself with kindness and patience, recognising the courage it takes to seek support and begin this work.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Many people come to therapy without a clearly defined problem. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure about certain areas of your life. Therapy offers a space to explore these experiences and develop greater clarity, even if you are not certain where to begin.

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy and what you would like to explore. It is also a chance to experience the therapeutic space and see whether working together feels right for you.

Each session lasts 50 minutes, providing a focused and contained space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Fees vary depending on the type of session (online or in-person). Full details can be shared on enquiry or during the initial conversation.

Sessions are usually held once a week at a consistent time. Regular sessions support continuity and help build momentum in the therapeutic process.

This varies depending on your needs. Some clients attend for a short period (for example, 6–8 sessions), while others choose to work longer-term to explore deeper patterns. This can be reviewed as therapy progresses.

Yes. Therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on what you are looking for. I also work with clients in a format where we block three months together, allowing for consistent work towards specific goals.

Sessions cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled time are usually chargeable. This helps maintain consistency and protects the therapeutic space.

Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential. The only exceptions are rare situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, in line with professional ethical guidelines.

Sessions are available both online and in person. You can choose the format that works best for your schedule and comfort.

My work is grounded in Gestalt therapy with an integrative, person-centred perspective. The focus is on your present experience, increasing awareness, and understanding how thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses are connected.

You can begin by booking a discovery call or an initial session. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether therapy feels like the right step for you.

It is important that therapy feels right for you. You are not obliged to continue if it does not feel like a good fit, and you are free to explore other options.

No. Many people come to therapy with a general sense of feeling unsettled, overwhelmed, or uncertain. Therapy can help bring clarity even when the issue is not clearly defined.

Therapy is less about giving direct advice and more about helping you understand your experiences more clearly. This allows you to make choices that feel more aligned with your needs and values.
